Ignorance, my friends, is NOT bliss.

In your everyday life you are confronted with more information than you probably care to process. It is in your best interest to seek the truth adamently. Just because you heard it on TV or from your best friend doesn’t make it true. Blindly accepting things can lead down a path of drama, drama, drama. Before you assume that because Ashley said Jon did this which Amanda heard ticked of Brandy, go to the root of the problem to not add gasoline to the flame. It never hurts to ask. Besides you might actually get to the TRUTH.

Same goes for the media. Half of the time the news is stained by biases and unsubstantiated claims. Make sure you are not eating it up as ifit were fact. At the end of the day just make sure you have your story straight, your facts right and your opinions supported. Don’t be a zombie. Use your brain.

Remember: BELIEVE HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE AND NONE OF WHAT YOU HEAR!

BUT…

Don’t be fooled by these naughty little tools of self-deception. You should LOVE every little thing that is part of who you are. Your pants may be fitting tighter this week but SO WHAT! That could just mean you are getting that curvacious body you’ve secretly envied. Are your arms not as loaded as you want? Guess what…you probably look like a swimmer (which btw is wicked awesome). There is always room for improvement in everyone’s life but don’t let the outside determine how you feel on the inside. Beauty and image is just a matter of perception and is as quick to change as Texas weather. Learn to love yourself because confidence is the best asset of both a man and a woman.

REMINDER REMINDER REMINDER

Tomorrow (January 25th) is our Blood Drive! Come save a life with just a pint of your precious blood. Be there. It’s from 10am-3pm. You never know just who you could be saving.

Think about it. Do it. Be a hero!

1. Budget, Budget, Budget: Remember to put aside enough money each month to cover ALL of your bills. That’s right; phone bill, utilities, rent…all of it. And don’t forget to cover mundane stuff like groceries.

2. Rainy Day Fund: Life is unpredictable. Most of us already know that. So make sure you have some spare cash laying around for when things get hectic. You never know when your hoopty is going to give up the ghost. And medical emergencies are a constant possibility (1000 Ways to Die has taught us that). Keep at least $200 in a savings account for incidentals.

3. Can the Plastic: Credit cards are fun. Credit cards are dangerous. It’s almost impossible to go through life without a credit card but if you really have to have one make sure you can pay the minimal balance each month. Also, don’t spend what you don’t have. Remember, you are borrowing money from the bank and they want their interest back!

4. Prioritize: Some things are just more important than others. Those new Jordans or that gorgeous new purse are all fine and dandy but remember to pay your rent first. Plain and simple…take care of your business first and then let the pleasure follow.

5. Shopping Spree!: Yes. It is definately important to treat yourself. When all is done and paid for go out and buy yourself a treat (within reason). Get yourself a manicure or buy that new Call of Duty. You worked hard for your money so reward yourself from time to time.

You have officially survived the first day of classes. We hope your teachers aren’t too long winded and that you have enough papers and pencils to take adequate notes. It’s a new semester in a new year so you can definately get that coveted GPA. Besides, you are paying that tuiton so you should be making the most of your education. Study hard, party smart…that’s the new goal for the new year. Yay for college!
